Our Comprehensive Cosmetic Dentistry Services
Having a great-looking smile can do wonders for your self-confidence, but unfortunately, not everyone is born with perfect teeth. H and M Family Dentistry is a leading provider of cosmetic dentistry treatments for patients in Aurora, CO, including veneers, Invisalign® and other options to help patients look their best.
What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry includes all the dental treatments that are focused on helping people improve the aesthetics of their teeth, gums, and smile. While many patients may benefit from a single cosmetic procedure, others opt for smile makeovers comprising multiple procedures to address several issues. Some of the most common cosmetic dentistry procedures include:
- Dental veneers
- Bridges, dentures, and dental implants
- Teeth whitening
- Tooth-colored (white) fillings
- Gum contouring procedures for “gummy” or gum grafting for smiles that appear too “toothy”
How are veneers applied?
Veneers are thin coverings placed on the surfaces of teeth to correct the appearance of several cosmetic issues, including deep stains, chips, uneven tooth surfaces, gaps between teeth and crooked teeth. Before applying the veneer, a small amount of the tooth surface material must be removed to make room for the veneer so it doesn’t “stick out” above or beyond the surfaces of the neighboring teeth. An impression is made of the tooth and sent to a lab where the veneer is made, and a temporary veneer is applied to protect the tooth in the meantime. Once the veneer is ready, the patient returns to the office and the tooth surface is carefully cleaned and prepared for the veneer. A special adhesive is used to bond the veneer to the tooth surface and then the veneer is gently buffed so it looks completely natural.
What happens during Invisalign® treatment?
Invisalign® treatment begins with impressions of the teeth that serve as models for the trays or aligners used to shift teeth into their proper positions. The impressions are sent to a lab where special software creates 3D virtual models that demonstrate how the teeth need to shift to come into alignment. Those models serve as the basis for the clear plastic aligners. Most patients have between 18 and 30 sets of aligners that are worn in a specific sequence to keep teeth moving into alignment during treatment. Invisalign® aligners are nearly invisible while they’re being worn, and they can be removed for eating and for brushing and flossing.
"My experience was great from beginning to end. Every staff person is super friendly and good at what they do. I haven't had any experience that was overly painful. The hygienists there are able to make you comfortable and relaxed the entire time."Nakita B.
